Xenia, Ohio: Bike Trails, Parks & Small-Town Charm

Xenia is best known regionally as a cycling hub — several major regional trails converge here — but there's more to the town than the bikeway, especially if you're staying nearby for a few days.

The trail network. The Little Miami Scenic Trail and Creekside Trail both pass directly through downtown Xenia, making it one of the easiest towns in the region to base a cycling trip from. You can ride north toward Yellow Springs and Springfield or south toward Loveland and the Cincinnati suburbs without ever touching a road.

Downtown and Shawnee Park. Xenia's downtown was largely rebuilt after a major 1974 tornado, and it now has a walkable core with local shops and restaurants. Shawnee Park, just outside downtown, has walking paths, sports fields, and enough shade trees to make it a good stop on a hot afternoon.

Day trips from Xenia. Yellow Springs — home to Antioch College and the John Bryan/Clifton Gorge trail system — is a quick 15-minute drive and worth the trip for its shops, cafés, and gorge trails. Xenia's central location also puts Dayton, the Air Force museum, and the Cincinnati suburbs all within about 45 minutes.

Staying in Xenia. It's a quieter option than Dayton or Kettering, with easy highway access and lower typical rates — a good fit if you're prioritizing budget and trail access over nightlife.
